Before my first women’s am I knew that it would be a very different experience. Previously, I had only played in a few events where I was paired with othergirls/women who were much older than me. The thought seemed intimidating but I told myself that I belonged there.

I got off to a rough start with a double on the first hole. I made 2 more doubles on the front nine but I stuck with it and focused on my last holes on the front 9, and I parred them! I played so much smarter on the back nine and when I had a tough lie or angle, I swung confidently. I had some really good shots and even had a birdie to shoot 39.

Although I shot 84, I placed 8th out of 30 women. I was the lowest scoring high school student! It was a learning experience and I’m so happy that I finished strong and had fun.
