A beautiful 5370-yard, par-75 course named Tam O’Shanter is one of my favorite out-of-town courses. I was excited when my coach told us we were playing there for a team tournament since I had played there previously in a few Tri-State PGA Junior Tour events.

I have been playing well the past week and was looking forward to seeing what I could do on the course. During the ride down I was describing holes to my teammates and giving them strategies to help them score as low as possible, since none of them had ever seen the course. It was pouring when we got there but we warmed up at the range and hit some putts and chips on the putting green. Eventually we were called into the pro shop because there was a delay due to the lightning in the area. We got out about another hour later and the course was wet, wet, wet (it was still raining), so lift, clean, and place in your own fairway was in effect.

I started off the round with two pars and I could tell it was going to be a good day. I hit fairways and greens in regulation on almost every hole and my short game was spot on. I even had an eagle!! I shot my lowest 18-hole round ever of -2! I was excited to see how the rest of my team shot because my coach told me they were doing great!

We took second as a team with a 73, 76, and a 92 and I took first individually! One girl on my team also shot her personal best round with a 97!! It was a good day for everyone!
