Erie’s Mega Match at J.C. Martin Golf Course took place yesterday on August 22nd, 2018. My team unfortunately had only one practice round before the match, and we hadn’t played the course since the previous year’s Mega.

My team and I putted and chipped on the practice green and I don’t know what it was about that day, but I felt super confident and chill. I was draining putts and knocking all of my chip shots close. I couldn’t wait to play since last year I shot my (at the time) low 9-hole round of even par 33.

My first hole I bombed my drive on a par five to about 150 yards, hit the green, and two-putted for birdie! I continued to play well, making another birdie and the rest pars. It was my first bogey-free round and my new lowest 9-hole round of -2, 31. The greens at J. C. Martin are tiny and very undulating, and many of the holes there are 150-190-yard par threes. It’s not an easy course on which to shoot a great score relative to par.

I was named Female Varsity Athlete of the Week in the Erie Times Newspaper, and there was an article describing that I shot the only round under par at the tournament which helped lead my team to a 31-stroke victory.
